Microsoft adCenter Analytics (aka: Gatineau) will be closing by the end of the year…this is a sad day, as I had hoped Microsoft would really invest in this space. Ironically they listed Google Analytics in their recommended alternative solutions/sites

Our team would like to sincerely thank you for your participation and your invaluable contributions to the program. Our objectives at the outset were to serve the needs of small and midsize self-service customers, as well as evolve the Microsoft strategy to address the Web analytics space.

The insights you’ve contributed through your feedback and your use of the tool have served an invaluable purpose in shaping Microsoft’s future in this space. You’ve helped us work towards making an informed decision about building a general Web analytics solution, and despite the end of life plan, the beta was very much a success.

RIP Microsoft Gatineau!!!adCenter Analytics Beta To Close – adCenter Analytics Blog

Search engine optimization is a process that encompasses several ’sub processes’ like: link popularity, one way linking, keyword search and usage etc. All these sub-processes work in tandem to enhance your website and optimize it for better indexing by search engine robots. All of this is done in order to ensure that your brand, business or website gets maximum visibility over the World Wide Web; which consists of millions of websites already. SEO is the process that differentiates your website from all other ‘regular’ or ‘normal’ unoptimized websites, offering you an opportunity to keep ahead of the competition; and at the same time builds a cumulative online marketing platform long term.

There are several search engines like Google that offer SEO tools, strategies and analytics. But of late, Google SEO analytics is being treated as a not entirely ‘effective process’. But there is a bigger problem when it comes to SEO analytics and that is usability. Online marketing success is dependent on several factors and one of them is the ability to incorporate SEO processes effectively and gauge accurate search engine usability data. The primary part of any search engine optimization program needs to deal with analysis and this has to be a thorough affair because even the smallest mistakes can cost you dearly and you can even end up losing your current Page Rank. Another fact is that it is not possible for SEO professionals to accurately gauge the SEO implementation strategies without having a full understanding of how to implement target audience based searches.

The behavior of the internet user or searcher is tough to predict and even if you are using position-checking data, you will not have enough of useful information. On the other hand, the data received through SEO analytics can reveal much more internet user behavior related information. There are several tools being offered over the internet to enhance web SEO analytics but not many of those tools have proven to be successful in mapping internet user/buyer/customer behavior. One of the tools however can do much more than just getting you important user information like the SEOi snapshot. Here’s an image of what all it can do in terms of SEO analytics and other functions:

Whether you are looking for useful traffic or internet customer behavior on Google or Yahoo, this tool can provide you with precise information and this is what makes the SEOi Snapshot a powerful application. With the help of this SEO analytics tool, you will be able to spot various key statistics like the total number of pages that have been indexed by search engine robots in Google, MSN, yahoo etc; the number of Google, Yahoo and MSN backlinks; you will get the analysis on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and above all, you will be able to keep a track of your page rank.

The best way to get started is to take the free 14-day trial offer of SEOi and feel the difference!

In the Spring 2005, Google bought the online web analytics company Urchin (which was founded by two fellow USC alums Brett and Scott Crosby in 1995).

In November 2005, Google revealed a re-packaged version of Urchin, now renamed Google Analytics. The biggest news about Google’s new offering was its price. FREE! The power of Urchin for free? It sounded ludicrous to some, but it was true. Google turned the entire analytics industry on its ear, offering a competitive solution for nothing. Google has since released a new version — Google Analytics 2.0 — that has advanced graphing and upgraded features.

I have used many tools from Omniture, WebTrends, Hitbox (HBX Pro), NetTracker, Harvest Solutions, E.piphany, Urchin — the list goes on and on. And the reality is, Google Analytics is the best ASP/Hosted solution out there (and did I mention – it’s free!). There are some features it lacks, but even if it weren’t free, I’d still say it was the best available option for almost everyone, short of some very specific-needs users.

We use it for PPC and SEO clients of all sizes, from 500 visits a day to 1 million+ and it functions beautifully. If you don’t mind sharing your data with “The Man” (aka: Google), and you’re looking for something that can give you an accurate, sophisticated picture of your site traffic and usage trends, then Google Analytics is the right solution for you.
