Have you ever walked into a greatly disorganized store? No matter how much you try and find the one item you are looking for, actually discovering that item can be far less than discouraging. Well, if your website is hard for visitors to navigate, all the SEO tactics in the world won’t help them to find what they are looking for. Eventually, short attention-spanned internet users will simply leave your site feeling frustrated. This is where search engine software comes into play. This type of software makes your site a lot easier for users to, well, use.

What does search engine software actually do? While different programs will work in varying manners, most types of this software actually create an effective way for users to search your site. By providing a search box, cataloging all the information on your site and using various search terms, your site will become as organized as your linen closet. This means that users can enter your site, find what they want, and leave feeling happily satisfied. This is precisely the kind of impression that you want to leave on your potential customers.

Marketing any kind of site is really all about the complete package. You have to have the right marketing tools in place in order to gain any attention from users. You have to be placed within the top five spots of a search engine, and you have to have a great website that looks professional. You also need to have a way for users to easily flip through your site without a lot of trouble and hassle. When all of these things are combined (and only then) you can expect to receive a lot of repeat (and initial) business. This is why search engine software may be just the thing that your site is missing.

There’s nothing simple about marketing your own site. This is why using a professional grade SEO Marketing Tools like SEOintelligence is crucial. This kind of company can create an entire, comprehensive, complete, package for your site. From start to finish, your site needs to have all of those essential elements, and it needs to stay on top of all the latest internet tactics at all times. It is only after all of these things have been applied to your site that you can sit back and relax. Do you need search engine software? You do if you want to keep your site organized and user-friendly.

*The Google Account has achieved over 4K+ new followers/users in less than 24 hours – now that is incredible (with only 35 following! a <1% rate!)

And, of course there probably is another more competitive reason (IMHO): Google secretly wants to clone/buy Twitter (think of the impression opportunity for ads!!!!)

Google now allows you to display different Fonts in Adsense units! This is a long awaited new feature and should help boost click through rates (CTR’s) for many sites…and a better user visual experience as well. Below is a snippit from the Google Adsense Blog:

You’ve been asking for more control over the appearance of the ads on your sites, so we’re happy to let you know that you can now change the font face of the text in ad units on pages in Latin-character languages. You can choose between Arial, Times, and Verdana font faces. Please note that while font options will appear in every account, they’ll currently only be applied to ad units on pages primarily in Latin-based characters.

There are a few ways to customize the font face of your ad units. If you’d like to quickly change the font settings for every ad unit generated from your account, visit the ‘Ad Display Preference’ section of your Account Settings page to select a new account-wide font face. This will affect all units you’ve created in the past, regardless of whether you used the Manage Ads feature. By default, your ads are currently set to ‘Standard AdSense font family’, which we’ve found has performed well across browsers and displays.

See image from Adsense Management Screen Below (thanks to Ginside):

Again, I think this is a fantastic addition to Adsense – Lets see how this effects the overall CTR on ads.

The primary aim of Search Engine Optimization is to enhance your online visibility by improving the keyword ranking. With ranking you might find at times that your overall rank is good based on the general keywords but your rank might not be as good for specific ‘long tail’ keywords – it can be vice versa too. This is an issue that is mainly caused due to inferior page to page links or “interlinking” as I call it. If you use indiscriminate linking from one page to another then basically you end up diluting the entire organizational theme of your website and hence it becomes difficult to rank your keywords naturally in different search engines.

‘Siloing’ is the solution offered towards this kind of link dilution, which is sometimes referred to as unfocused linking (I know I don’t make this up). Siloing can resolve the poor linking problem and help you to achieve a high rank on search engines for specific as well as general keywords/specific keyword phrases – basically you get the best of both worlds. This is done mainly by using a themed vertical page construction or linking. The best way to achieve high ranks for keywords is by incorporating silos right into the website structure.

There are mainly two types of silos and they are:
1. Virtual silos
2. Directory based silos

Both the ‘virtual’ and ‘directory’ based silos are capable of creating a keyword theme using linking, but they achieve this method using very different methodologies. The ‘virtual silos’ are capable of creating content as well as subject relationships by cross-linking them so that a theme can be created. On the other hand, a directory based silo will create a relationship through linking different directories to a group.

If you use the directory silo method then it will build relationships between different pages by grouping similar-content pages under one directory and the directory theme will be then tied to the main directory structure (simple and most common). Most directory structures will need a minimum of five content pages that will support the topic that your directory is trying to address. One thing that you need to remember is that all directory silos will need to be extremely well structured as well as organized.

The only way to ensure that your directory silo has been implemented correctly; you will need to group similar-content into different directories. To understand it better, let us take an example of salami and cheese. You will need to create a separate directory for each of the themes, which are one for salami and one for cheese. You will have subsequent pages in the directory that are content rich in order to support your overall directory theme. Now if there are two types of cheese: feta cheese and Parmigiano reggiano then both the different types of cheese will be categorized under the main cheese page. We can extrapolate this idea with Salami, and build out pages based on type: Genoa, Hard, Soppreseta etc…see it’s easy and I’m getting hungry.

On the other hand, you can create a virtual silo theme through linking. In a virtual silo environment the page names are unimportant because the relationship between the pages might not necessarily be in under the same silo. The silo will always be defined by each of the pages it is linked to. Thus in a virtual silo, you are basically creating a theme that is based on links vis-à-vis a directory structure in directory silo.

Alright, I figured I’d address this issue before it became more widely discussed (already grumbling in the forums) – and post an official SEOiQ vs. SiteSeer Challenge now.

As background: The other day a Super Affiliate Friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) informed me via conference call that he had tested out StomperNet’s SiteSeer (or “Site Seer”) application and she/he was flabbergasted at how “mediocre” it was compared to our new SEOiQ Diagnostic Test (in front of 20+ other Affiliate friends of ours) – and was amazed ours had not gone ‘mainstream’ yet.

Naturally, I figured he was simply exaggerating and stroking my ego, so I went to StomperNet to see exactly what all the hype was truly about. Unfortunately, I was met with a lot of ’shiny pennies’ and glitzy effects – and quite honestly not much substance. (I had to mute my machine after 30 seconds of the techno music from their video intro/sales piece.)

I’ve always wondered how programs/systems/applications get so popular. Clearly, salesmanship is more important than functionality, my friends (case in point).

Seriously our SEOiQ Tool blew StomperNet away…it wasn’t even a fair fight.

Upon first glance all the glitzy graphics and futuristic image transitions will impress/please the eye – see a screenshot of the SiteSeer welcome page eye candy (and I use that term loosely, unless you think web design peaked with Microsoft’s first iteration of the XBOX brand site back in 2001) below:

I have to hand it to the StomperNet folks, they truly know how to do create high value video/audio productions, but their collective ability to build a great SEO diagnostic tool needs much to be desired.

In comparison our SEOintelligence Homepage is simple and cleanly laid out:

Next step in the process is to check out the SiteSeer Tool input form. Here’s a screenshot:

Compare that to our SEOiQ Diagnostic Tool input form process to SiteSeer’s (they have almost identical inputs!) — see SEO isn’t that complicated :

Below are the (IMHO – lame) results from the SiteSeer diagnostic test series – long winded and very difficult to interpret (in comparison to the graphical and easy to understand SEOiQ Test ):

Now let’s compare the SEOiQ Diagnostic test results and accompanying SEOi Toolset’s highly prescriptive results – see below:

As you can see the SEOiQ results are not ‘buried’ in a ton of rhetorical SEO 101 copy/text, instead they are all displayed in easy to read charts for simple comparison and analysis…(covering onpage and off page topics including: site structure, social networks, readability and popular search engine index stats and many more) – some other SEO diagnostic tests simply “can’t handle the truth” – ehhh hemmm.

I respect the StomperNet Team – but a spade is a spade.

You would think that if someone didn’t know what they were searching for, they would stop looking. Yet everyday, I talk to people who aimlessly spend their time and energy looking for some far away holy grail.

As a SEO my quest for success is a little better defined. I want to work on websites that drive immense traffic, be at the top of competitive SERPs and most of all, I want to help people. I think many SEOs feel the same way. We have the advantage of knowing what we are searching for. Yet, we still have one huge problem. Where are we supposed to search to learn how to achieve the results we want? I have spent the last week trying to solve this problem…
