John Dvorak writes all the time and proclaims his ignorance proudly – this tho is perhaps one of the most ignorant articles in regards to SEO I have also read in quite a while (thanks Aaron Wall!).

John writes:

Search engine optimization (SEO) has turned into a big business, and from what I can tell it’s the modern version of snake oil. The unproven nonsense spewed by so-called “SEO experts” simply doesn’t work. And worse, it’s screwing up the elegance of the Web.

Aaron Wall ’s rebuttal:

Unlike John Dvorak, professional SEOs do not need to lie and pull sleazy tricks to get “hits”… we rank for high value keywords and turn that traffic stream into real business. His publishing strategy is so inauthentic and cheesy that he writes by number.

This guy Dvorak doesn’t have a clue – friggin foolio, I would love to debate his view on SEO – jimminy crickets.

Last night, The Richter Scales brought down the house at The Crunchies for the second year in a row with a brand new song. The song depicts a hilariously overoptimistic startup and pokes fun at just about everything in the tech industry, from overhyped launches to ridiculous product ideas (I especially love GramZone, the nursing home in the cloud). This is a long overdue post – we have been very busy with the new development team, and cleaning up the code for the new v1.0 release, and needless to say I completely forgot to post this!

Omg – these were heavenly, tiny caprese salads on a stick – drizzled in 12 yr aged balsamic!

Raw seafood bar also kept it fresh, and healthy – so yummy.

Hanging out with Zac, Matt, Josh, and John…great people and all smart/successful entrepreneurs! They like SEOi Too!

EliteRetreat is ON!

Hello SearchSavant fans, writing this LIVE from the EliteRetreat in San Francisco…don’t start drooling just yet, as I am bound by a NDA to not disclose any specifics of the conference/projects. All I can say is it’s happening NOW, and I already have 2 pages of notes on action items for when I leave tomorrow!

Seriously, this is such a amazing conference – I have had a total blast and we are only 1/2 way through the first day sessions. If you ever get the chance, I highly suggest you get yourself to a future Elite Retreat.

Like I said, I’m under an NDA and can’t say much…but here’s a taste of the great speakers we’ve been privy to today:

Just got back from SMX in Santa Clara

As you all know I have a Day Job – at LegalZoom.com in Los Angeles. My employer was nice enough to let me attend SMX West in Santa Clara over this past week to further my SEM education (sweet!). It was such a blast – seriously I had a great time, the sessions were great, people fantastic, and location was easy to navigate. Danny Sullivan was awesome, I talked to Shoemoney.com at the Google Groove Party, and also chatted with Neil Patel as well. Honestly it was a great event – I’m super happy Danny left Jupiter/Incisive and started SMX and wanted to personally give him a shout out (great guy, and so knowledgeable!).

Again, very glad that I was able to attend and learn a ton about SEM at the same time. SMX truly is a evolution from SES and 2008 might be the year I DON’T attend a SES in over 5+ years! WOW!

SEOi Going to the Elite Retreat!!!

I wanted to let everyone know that SEOintelligence.com will be debuting at the Elite Retreat! I have spent a LONG time building this application with my Patner Kyle, but never attended an event with this many SEM/Affiliate heavyweights. To say I am a bit ‘nervous’ is a understatement – the good kind.

Honestly, I really look forward to the opportunity to show the application off and also get feedback from Industry peers that I follow and look up to.

Also wanted to give a shout out to Shoe, Neil, Tigh and all the folks at Elite Retreat who are making the event happen – kudos and thanks.
